MBOA Official's Membership Pre-Application

Metropolitan Basketball Officials Association welcomes new members to join. MBOA is dedicated to officiating high school basketball in the State of Georgia and providing quality officials to its member’s organization. We welcome both male or female to join our organization. No experience is necessary. We will train you to become one of the best officials in the State of Georgia. Keep in mind that we are not a recreational league nor do we book recreation league basketball.

Becoming a high school basketball official is not difficult, but it does require some patience, practice, dedication, and training.   As you learn the rules and mechanics you will develop a solid foundation for officiating.   Our meeting and training sessions begin on the second Sunday in September and run through January.  We accept registration from new members throughout the year starting in April.  You can find the meeting schedule posted under Official’s Corner starting in August of each year.

The area that we currently serve is Clayton, Henry, Dekalb, Newton Counties,  “School List” link to see our currently assigned schools. Please refer to the Georgia High School Association at www.ghsa.net for contact information for additional Georgia officials groups if needed. You can only be a member of one GHSA sanctioned basketball organization.

Annual dues are $70.00, which covers your membership, GHSA fees, and rule books. If you are interested in a GHSA sports entrance card, you will be required to pay an additional $15.00.  In becoming or maintaining an IAABO membership, please let us know. MBOA is IAABO Board #311.
